The Cove already had thousands of articles on their previous GovCMS 7 website that had to be migrated to the new GovCMS 9 website. There was no automatic upgrade path and, to complicate things further, the new site featured a new information architecture.
A custom process was created to extract content from the existing site, modify it as required, and then add it to the new site. The process was repeatable and testable which drastically reduced the content freeze period and the chance for error.
The Cove had outgrown its current structure and required a significant navigation overhaul. Additionally, the larger organisation had updated key parts of their education continuum, further necessitating information architecture updates.
User experience design principles were followed. A clear purpose and goals were defined, the audience and pain points were analysed and updated, and information architecture and user interface were designed and validated. New features such as faceted search were also implemented to surface relevant content quickly.
The Cove, which is the Australian Army’s professional development platform, partnered with Interserv for our website, app and multimedia needs.
